Valentine’s Day is such a fun festive holiday, and one that is full of sweet DIY projects. As a paper crafter I am always looking to use my supplies in different ways. For this banner and the decorative straws I am using some of my steel dies, felt, and twine to create cute projects.
The great thing about these projects is that you most likely have the supplies on hand, and if not you can always trace and image and hand cut it. You can also substitute the felt with pattern paper and that would be really fun as well.
Here is what you will need:
Alphabet Die Set (Quinn’s ABC Lawn Fawn)
Heart Shaped Die (American Crafts Dear Lizzy)
Sizzix Big Shot
To create the banner start by die cutting all your shapes and letters.
I like to use a grid mat to make sure I get the correct spacing between hearts when adding the twine. I have a found a glue gun works best for adhering the hearts to the twine.
I had a few extra hearts to I thought it would be super cute to add them to some paper straws. I just love how they turned out. I hope you have enjoyed this quick and simple Valentine’s projects and can’t wait to see what you are creating this month.
One of my most favorite things about the holidays is fun DIY projects. This includes everything from home decor to custom gift wrap. I never realized how super simple (and inexpensive) it is to stamp on regular postal kraft paper and turn it into something beautiful. For this box, I used a layered wreath stamp set. I find that stamps set like this one make the gift wrap look very finished and professional. They are several different companies that make layered stamp sets both for the holidays and all year around. I would recommend using pigment ink when stamping on kraft paper because it sits on top of the paper and doesn’t soak into the paper like dye ink, I have found in my experience that the colors stay more vibrant and true. I especially like the pigment inks from Avery Elle and Colorbox Pigment Petals. I have also used some StazOn to stamp on a simple white gift bag and Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink to stamp on a kraft bag. Make sure to watch the video below to see just how I created these projects.
Next up are some 2 minute pillow boxes perfect for gift cards. Simply pick your favorite pattern paper, run through your die cutting machine, and add some simple embellishment. For these I used a Lawn Fawn die, Sizzix Big Shot, and paper from American Crafts.
Lastly, I wanted a fun canvas to add to our mantel this year and decided to make it using a cut file and the Silhouette Cameo. I picked two images and paired them together then cut using some gold foil card stock. I also cut the images from vinyl and preferred those results and would recommend that instead of card stock because you don’t have to add glue to vinyl! Huge bonus! 🙂 Once adhered to a plain 12×12 canvas, you end up with this adorable addition to your holiday home decor.
I hope you have enjoyed a look at some of my holiday projects. There is a video and links to some of the products used below. Thanks so much for stopping by!
It’s almost that time of year again. The air is slightly crisper, the leaves are changing colors and the kickoff to the holiday seasons is quickly approaching.
For our family Halloween marks the beginning of a whirl wind of decorating, parties, shopping, and lots of good family dinners. Since we don’t have children yet and live in a neighborhood that takes trick or treating very seriously, we have decided to turn our little Jack into our little Jack-O-Lantern! I must make mention that little Jack absolutely loves to wear clothes, so no doggies were harmed or uncomfortable during the taking of this photo 🙂
Documenting the holiday season is one of my favorite things to do. I try not to get sucked into to all the holiday themed collections, but have happily proven to be a massive failure at that endeavor. This collection by Crate Paper called After Dark is by far one of my all time favorite holiday lines. I love the retro imagery and the splash of aqua blue.
Another area that has proved to be a struggle for me is getting out my Silhouette Cameo and using it for projects. When I saw the scripty Happy Halloween title I knew that paired with the After Dark collection would make a great layout.
